Blue Lagoon Island, home to Dolphin Encounters, is one of the most beloved tourist attractions in The Bahamas. Since 1989, Blue Lagoon Island has been a sanctuary for marine life and a hub for unforgettable experiences. It all began when our founder, L.A. Meister, rescued two Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins from a closing aquarium in Nassau. In 2006, our marine family grew to include six California sea lions displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Today, our island is home to native Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins, California sea lions, native Southern stingrays, and sharks, all thriving in an all-natural marine habitat.
Owned and operated by a local Bahamian family, Blue Lagoon Island offers a wide range of activities for guests of all ages. From our award-winning animal interaction programs to Eco-Nature Walking Tours, beach day experiences, and historical walking tours in Nassau, there’s something for everyone. Guests can also enjoy dining, bars, shops, and even an inflatable water park, all set against the backdrop of our pristine private beaches.
